Technical Information


Clinical Significance:Detection of anti-ganglionic AChR (α3-AChR ) antibody

Typical Presentation: Rapid onset of severe autonomic failure including orthostatic hypotension, gastrointestinal dysmotility anhidrosis, bladder dysfunction and sicca symptoms.
Methodology: Radioimmunoassay
Reference Range:<55 pMol/L

Specimen Requirements


Please label each specimen tube with two forms of patient identification. These forms of identification must also appear on the requisition form.

Specimen Type:Serum
Specimen Stability: Room temperature: 72 hours, Refrigerated: 21 days, Frozen: 4 months,
Specimen Requirements: 2 mL (0.5 mL minimum) serum in a Red-top tube or Serum Separator Tube (SST)
Instructions:Serum must be separated from whole blood within 48 hours of collection.
