Test code: | 1510 |
Type of disorder: | Neuromuscular Disorders |
Disease(s) tested for: | Myasthenia Gravis (MG) |
Tests included: | Acetylcholine Receptor Binding Antibody MuSK Antibody Test |
Special Notes: | Reflex Criteria: If the Acetylcholine Receptor Binding Antibody is negative then the MuSK Antibody Test will be performed at additional charge (CPT code: 83519) |
Clinical Significance: | Anti-acetylcholine receptor binding antibodies (anti-AChR) are associated with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) and are found in approximately 85% of MG patients. Approximately 8% to 10% of all MG cases and 20% to 50% of generalized MG cases who lack anti-AChR antibodies have autoantibodies against muscle-specific kinase (anti-MuSK). |
